Press Releases | January 6, 2022

Board Membership Changes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – National Church Residences is pleased to announce three new members have joined the board of directors, while the organization also wants to recognize two long-standing members who have ended their service under term limits.

New Members
Geoffrey Biehn joins the board of directors with extensive financial planning expertise. Before forming and serving as president of Trinity Financial Advisors LLC, Biehn was a senior vice president and divisional CFO at Bank One. He began his career at KPMG and brings 25 years of experience, having also served in senior financial positions at CompuServe and MCI. A certified public accountant and a certified financial planner, he is a Columbus native with an undergraduate degree in business from Indiana University and has a master’s in business administration from The Ohio State University.

The Reverend Larry Crowell recently retired after 10 years as president and CEO of Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio. A Pennsylvania native, Crowell’s election to the board brings his extensive experience in the health-care sector, working as CEO of the Heritage Valley Health System, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center and Pinnacle Health, all in his home state. He also earned a master’s in divinity and was ordained an Episcopal priest, which led to service as rector of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Powhatan, Virginia.

Tingting Li has served as director of global planning and international new markets for The Wendy’s Company since 2018. Her experience in financial planning, business development, as well as mergers and acquisitions crosses health care and retail sectors, bringing valuable perspective to the board. Before joining Wendy’s, Li held executive and management positions with Cardinal Health and KPMG. She has an undergraduate degree in finance from Beijing Language and Culture University, as well as an MBA in finance and strategy from The Ohio State University.

Departing Members
Eric Borders, the first Board member from Atlanta, was elected in 2013 and has served on the organization’s Atlanta Advisory Board since 2007. Borders is the senior director of strategic programs with Oracle Corporation, working as a technology and management consultant. He has agreed to stay engaged with National Church Residences by continuing to serve on the Southeast Advisory Board.

Mike Flowers was elected to the board of directors in 2011 to serve an unexpired term and was re-elected in 2015. He is an attorney in the business department at Steptoe & Johnson, an internationally recognized law practice. Flowers’ professional knowledge of the low-income housing tax credit program brought great insights to the board and the senior leadership team.

“We appreciate the talent, dedication and leadership that Erik Borders and Mike Flowers have brought to their board service,” said Mark Ricketts, president and CEO of National Church Residences. “Over their years, they’ve contributed significantly to our vision and organizational growth. In the meantime, we are delighted to welcome our new board members Geoffrey Biehn, Rev. Crowell and Tingting Li as we move into 2022 and beyond.”
