Decatur, GA – The DeKalb County Community Development Department in Decatur, Georgia approved $86,602 in funds from its COVID-19 Citizens Assistance Program to National Church Residences. The COVID-19 relief fund will support DeKalb County, Georgia seniors living in National Church Residences’ Panola Gardens, a senior independent living community with 84 apartments.

National Church Residences will utilize the funds to cover documented costs associated with overdue rent, mortgage assistance, utility assistance, food, or other unforeseen financial and emergency needs.

In response to the negative economic impact that DeKalb County citizens have suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DeKalb County allocated $2.7 million dollars to launch a non-profit based grant program to assist residents that have immediate needs.  Funding for this program will come from the CARES ACT funding signed into law on March 27, 2020 that was allocated to DeKalb County to address the COVID-19 crisis.

DeKalb County residents seeking more information about assistance programs and DeKalb County’s COVID-19 Citizens Assistance Program can log on to https://www.dekalbcountyga.gov/Covid-19/Response.
