ATLANTA – National Church Residences is the recipient of a $250,000 grant from the Fulton County COVID-19 Emergency Relief fund. The award is part of the county’s $10 million allocated to a number of nonprofit agencies serving Fulton County residents and businesses. This represents the second wave of funding to meet immediate needs of the community following the approval by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners on April 1, 2020.

The organization will utilize the funding to design and implement a centralized, on-demand food hub service for older adults, formerly homeless and people with disabilities in the county. Funding also will be used for nutritional support, along with purchasing personal protective equipment and supplies, in addition to providing residents access to transportation for picking up prescriptions and taking care of other critical needs.

“Sincere gratitude to Chairman Robb Pitts, Dr. Pamela Roshell, Ladisa Onyiliogwu, Kenn Vanhoose and all of our Fulton County leaders for placing seniors first amid this crisis,” said Population Health Director Jacque Thornton of National Church Residences. “Your humanitarian commitment will make the difference in mitigating food insecurity for nearly 1,400 seniors living under our rooftops. Know our residents are eternally grateful for these resources. Your support reduces stress and fear among them.”

These funds will help improve the lives of seniors in eight National Church Residences communities in Fulton County, which include:

  • Baptist Gardens, 1901 Myrtle Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30311
  • Baptist Towers, 1881 Myrtle Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30311
  • Betmar Village, 340 Ashwood Avenue SW, Atlanta, GA 30315
  • Big Bethel Village, 500 Richard Allen Boulevard, Atlanta, GA 30331
  • Commons at Imperial Hotel, 355 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30308
  • Lakewood Christian Manor, 2141 Springdale Road SW, Atlanta, GA 30315
  • Princeton Court, 3633 Howard Drive, College Park, GA 30337
  • Trinity Towers, 2611 Springdale Road SW, Atlanta, GA 30315

The grant will cover 12 weeks of service to seniors who live in the county. Residents seeking more information about assistance programs and Fulton County’s COVID-19 response can log on to www.fultoncountyga.gov/covid-19.
