For more than 60 years, National Church Residences has served the changing needs of aging adults through quality housing and senior services. Our organization has grown from a single community into the largest non-profit provider of senior housing in the U.S. – and there is always room to do more. As vice president of marketing and sales, Margaret Gibson is at the forefront of developing new opportunities for senior services. Margaret joined National Church Residences on Nov. 20, 2023 and oversees the network of support and resources National Church Residences provides for seniors. It’s a natural fit for someone with a history of supporting seniors in a variety of ways. Striving to Support More Seniors While Margaret currently oversees marketing and sales efforts, her professional journey began as a physical therapist. She first worked in clinical settings, but eventually determined that home health was a better fit for her. “I wanted to have more of an impact where people call home,” Margaret explained. “I felt that, to be more effective in my role as a clinician, the best place to do that was where someone lives. By doing that, I was able to make an even greater impact by engaging with several seniors in a shorter period of time.” Margaret took a job as a lead physical therapist for a home health care organization where she designed treatment programs and care plans to help seniors in assisted living facilities and homes. Still, she felt there were more ways to serve even more people. That desire to support seniors led Margaret to transition from physical therapy into business development and marketing. She excelled at developing a network of strategic partnerships to offer new offerings to seniors while creating new referral opportunities. This process allowed her to create a collaborative network of services for seniors, all while her clinical background helped inform what truly matters for aging adults. “What is so impactful is being able to connect all those service offerings together to truly impact the entire quality of life of an individual,” Margaret said. “There’s so much potential with our senior population. People don’t necessarily give them enough credit. I love to help seniors maximize their potential and their quality of life.” Growing the National Church Residences Umbrella Now that Margaret is part of National Church Residences, she’s ready to use her collective experience to engage with more seniors and increase community awareness of the organization’s brand. One of the most attractive aspects of her current role is the range of key offerings that National Church Residences provides for aging adults. “There is nowhere else where everything is housed under one roof,” Margaret explained. “The mission that drives us is to be able to be a resource, an advocate, and a leader that provides that entire care continuum of services. I can see such potential to further develop those offerings.” Expanding the network of support isn’t the only way that Margaret is planning to help bring excellent care to seniors. She also aims to provide added support for all the people working within the organization. This approach includes providing staff with more educational resources and training on how to utilize a clinical perspective and approach. “What is exciting to me is that I can teach other people,” Margaret said. “Working with seniors was rewarding as an individual contributor as a physical therapist, but as a leader I am able to mentor others and show them how to serve seniors the way they deserve.” Ready for a Big Year The ability to grow National Church Residences’ collaborative network of senior services is an exciting opportunity, and there’s plenty more that Margaret is excited about in 2024. Margaret is looking forward to some major milestones this year, including her 25th wedding anniversary and 50th birthday. 2024 also marks the first time that Margaret and her husband will be empty nesters, as both of their daughters will be at their respective colleges. Aside from the major life events, Margaret has plans to stay active in her free time. Margaret is excited to spend some more time with her family and close friends. She’s also an active CrossFitter and loves to see what she can accomplish. Between her professional journey and personal life, Margert has a history of making and meeting big goals. Margaret admits that she likes to set the bar high for herself at work and in her personal life. That quality is great news for all the seniors that National Church Residences serves, both now and in the future. Looking for a job where you can make an impact in your community?
