Continued Growth in Columbus Northland Neighborhood with Bretton Woods

COLUMBUS, Ohio ­– Bretton Woods will become National Church Residences’ newest senior rental community in the Northland neighborhood, thanks in part to Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) from the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA).

The planned mid-rise community will serve seniors age 55 and older, offering 62 newly constructed one-and two-bedroom units. Amenities will include a senior-focused fitness center, a wellness suite, a community room with kitchen and social space, on-site laundry, and community-provided transportation. An on-site property manager and a service coordinator also will support the needs of residents. Bretton Woods will be located near CMAX, Central Ohio’s first bus rapid transit line – as well as the Gillie Community Senior Center, offering craft classes, exercise, and other activities and operated by the City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.

Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2021 at 4836 Cleveland Avenue and will take about a year to complete. Architectural firm Berardi + Partners of Columbus will develop the plan and design the LEED-certified building.

Design features that enable senior residents to comfortably age in place will make each unit and common space accessible and adaptable – spanning interior furnished gathering areas, handrails in hallways, and special details in kitchens and bathrooms.

When Bretton Woods opens, National Church Residences’ Northland portfolio will include five communities and more than 400 units.
