Lonnie and Marion “Marnie” Clark
Lonnie and Marion “Marnie” Clark found one another more than 13 years ago and enjoyed a life of adventure, traveling the east coast in their RV. The moment they set foot in Florida, they knew they had found their place to get off the road and settle down. “It (Florida) just felt like home,” proclaimed Lonnie.
After taking some time to settle in, and putting down roots in Florida, with their RV, the couple agreed it was time to look into a senior living community, to plan for their future. Impressed by the amenities and lifestyle, they got to know the Water’s Edge of Lake Wales team and community members. Just like they knew about Florida, they knew they had found the next stop on their adventure. It wasn’t time just yet, but Water’s Edge of Lake Wales was their future.
In September of 2022, Hurricane Ian began its approach toward Florida. Five years earlier Lonnie had survived hurricane Irma alone, while Marnie was visiting family out of town. This time, Lonnie knew he didn’t want Marnie and their beloved pup, Charlie Brown, to experience what he went through with hurricane Irma. So he reconnected with the Water’s Edge of Lake Wales team to secure a safe haven and an option to
move up their move-in date. Much to their relief, they found both.
Marnie, Lonnie, and Charlie Brown made it safely into their new apartment just in time, with the support of the entire team of Water’s Edge of Lake Wales, and were welcomed by their new neighbors.
“It was a wonderful, warm, welcoming, blessed experience… moving into the community and knowing we were safe and secure. It was a relief,” remarked Lonnie. “It wasn’t kind of like divine intervention, it was divine intervention,” he added.
